About Us
- Our Beginnings -
A Pony for Christmas is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that started in 2021 with an idea for our family and friends to bring a stuffed pony to our annual Christmas party to then be delivered to children at the Betty H. Cameron Women and Children's Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Our aim is to bring joy and happiness to children who are going through a tough time in their lives. We believe that every child deserves a little bit of magic and we strive to make that happen. We are proud to say that between our first and second year we were able to double the number of ponies donated, continuing to double each year after. With your support, we hope to continue spreading happiness and love to children in need.
The Pony Behind the Mission
Clover joined our family in 2021 bringing her loving and comforting personality to our lives. These gifts she gave to my own daughter helped develop this mission. She symbolizes confidence, strength, courage, and love. These four characteristics are so important in providing healing and hope for the children who find themselves in our hospitals during the holidays. A Pony For Christmas reminds us of the childhood dreams of getting a pony for Christmas and the magic of the season.

Dear Missy,

I wanted to thank you for your amazing donation at Christmas last year. I saw your post last year about your mission of donating a pony for Christmas on facebook. I thought at the time what a fantastic idea! I had no idea my son would end up on the receiving end of this amazing heartfelt gesture. Last Christmas, as you know, my son was hospitalized for two months the week before Christmas. During his stay at Novant, he received one of the ponies your mission donated. I cannot tell you how special this made him feel. Reeves had many surgeries and went through a very difficult time, however the pony he received brought a smile to his face. I would love to be a part of this mission and help give back the joy my son was able to have at such a difficult time. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Catherine Hedge
